Robot statistics correct as of its most recent competition

Answering Chord was the first Sportsman Class robot designed by Oryx Robotics Group.

It was created specifically to compete in Bot-O-Rama 2K16, run by HotDealsInTexas. The unique Sportsman Class required entries to have an active weapon, but traditional kinetic spinning weapons were limited to a power of 5. The chainsaw mounted on Answering Chord is instead considered a "cutting weapon"

The basic design of Answering Chord is heavily influenced by the robot Vertigo, built by Team Vertigo.

Answering Chord is currently in its M1A1 iteration, a full album of its evolution can be seen here

Variants[]

M1[]

Answering Chord was designed with a 2-piece trapezoidal hull with aggressively knurled strike faces framed by ground-scraping spikes. Mounted between the sectioned chassis is a high-powered chainsaw.

M1A1[]

The M1A1 variant of Answering Chord was created to combat concerns that the M1 could be easily stuck on its side. The M1A1 widens the chassis by 24% and adds roll bars to each flank. M1A1 full album

Trivia[]

  • The name "Answering Chord" is a reference to the inspiration taken from the "original chord" of the robot Vertigo. The subtitle "Let no music fade" is also a reference to this.
  • Answering Chord was originally named "Moosejaw"
