Hammerfall was the first tournament organized through reddit as opposed to the ARC Forums. Hosted by Toxic (HikerAdam2), the tournament drew a crowd of over 40 users. Hammerfall was unique to many ARC tournaments in that it only had one weight class (heavyweight), as opposed to the usual 4-weightclass lineup. The tournament was conducted in three phases; Practice Rounds, Qualification Rounds, and the Elimination Rounds.
Practice Rounds ran for three weeks before the tournament officially started and allowed rookie users to test their designs, settle early rivalries, and make tweaks and adjustments before the tournament officially began.
Qualification Rounds started when the tournament began on September 13, 2015. Consisting of 11 groups with 4 robots per-group, these rounds lasted nearly two months.
Elimination Rounds were conducted from November 11, 2015 to December 13, 2015 and terminated with awards voting after the championship match
